Light Microscopy facility (LiM) of the Institute of Biomedicine (iBiMED) of University of Aveiro
Head: Sandra Isabel M. P. Vieira, Ph. D.
The University of Aveiro Node routinely serves research groups enrolled in the Biomedicine and Health Sciences scientific domains, with a central focus on aging and related diseases. Included are the Neurosciences and Signaling Group, the Cell Differentiation and Regeneration group, the Biology of RNA Group, the Organelle Dynamics in Infection and Disease, the Signal Transduction Group, and the Clinical Research Group.
The Node offers expertise in areas such as e.g. molecular and cellular basis of neuropathologies; regenerative medicine (including biomaterials); peroxisomes and mitochondria dynamics in pathologies and viral infections; biology of the RNA and evolution of the genetic code; protein phosphatases in human reproduction and diseases.
The current node equipment provides methodologies including fixation, labeling, IF/subcellular (co)localization, live cell imaging, spectral imaging and linear unmixing, deconvolution, data management, image processing, and data analysis.
